Background
This image, captured by Joseph Crachiola, shows how I grew up. I am a Chicano male from Houston. My schools and neighborhoods had all kinds of boys and girls, and, as I remember, we got along. We were friends. We ate at each others houses and if your family spoke a different language, it did not matter.
Then, as I grew older, divisions emerged. Interactions changed. Groups became more homogenous. Now, I see that these divisions have led to limited academic and socio-economic opportunities for people of color. As an educator, I am working to understand how communities can restore opportunities that have been lost for those living with poverty.
Education
I am a first-generation college graduate. It took me a while to graduate, but eventually, I gained a BA in Humanities from San Jose State University. A Master's of Education helped me develop my classroom practices. With, a Masters of Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, I was licensed to be a school leader.
Skills

Teaching and learning are passions. I am an astute educational leadership professional with over 15 years of curriculum and instructional design experience in diverse settings. I have demonstrated the skills to develop curriculum, build in-demand programs, advise students, coach teachers, improve employee engagement, and increase student retention.
